This is another painting I did using some of my Arizona reference photos. I just let myself experiment a little without any specific parameters. I actually do like how it turned out. I think it captures that kind of hazy atmosphere the desert's heat gives off during the day. Perhaps "Purple Haze" would have been a more appropriate title...

I wanted to revisit a similar style landscape I had done a series with a few years back (click to take a look!). For this particular painting I used a photo taken in March when I visited a friend outside of Phoenix. I love the shapes the sparsely growing brush make against the desert, too enticing not to abstract them!

Christmas Peppers

Tis the season...sort of. Well, I officially heard Christmas music on the radio the other day, so I suppose that means it's upon us, even though it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Alas. These were also the last of the peppers at the farmer's market from Saturday. Honestly I can't believe they made it this far!
